So, I know it’s been a long while since the last comic. Exams in France are pretty intense (surtout si on ne parle que un peu de français), and comics kept being the one thing that I was going to do, but never actually did. But no more. I dusted off my graphics tablet (I have no idea how it got so much dust on it, this is the dustiest room ever) to get a fresh start for the New Year (Chinese New Year, but of course!).

As for the idea of the comic, it comes from a story I read a while ago on science daily. Basically, there was a study done that concluded that anomalocaris’ mouth did not have the strength to crack a trilobite exoskeleton. In fact, it couldn’t even close fully. I haven’t read the study so I don’t know if the story depicted the study accurately, or if the conclusion holds up to scrutiny. But it seemed like a good idea for a comic.

So, again I’m sorry for the long lack of comics. I haven’t forgotten about it, and I’m not abandoning it, I just haven’t had much time to make comics. On the plus side, the result of my hard work is that je peux parler un petit peu de français quelquefois, si j’en ai besoin.

Anyway, I think that this is actually one of my best comics. We’ve all seen flashy unveilings of new “game-changing” fossil discoveries. They’re usually pretty heavy on media coverage, and pretty light on science.

I’m back! Have you missed me? Hopefully a few of you actually noticed that it’s been a few weeks since I actually posted a comic. Unlike Walcott, I have an actual excuse. I moved to France for a yearlong exchange at the beginning of September, so that’s kept me a little busy. I could have kept the comics up if I’d been really organized, but I’m not really organized, quite the opposite in fact.

In other news, I can’t get the image formatting right. I’ll figure that out later.
