This comic is based on a paper that Stephen Jay Gould published in 1980 which criticized some aspects of the modern evolutionary synthesis. Some overzealous quote miners have used it to claim that SJG rejected natural selection completely, which is pretty much BS.

    I love this one! You can read it two ways.

    And anytime the wiwaxia shows up is a good time. Makes a great Skipper to Walcott’s Gilligan.

    Honestly, I don’t see how Glendon can compare this to Gilligan’s Island, but it IS a great comic with Walcott!

    I guess I need to brush up on my Cambrian. :S
